What should you do when you want to track down comps that are linked to one particular occasion?  

Competitions that are themed around an upcoming event are very common. At Christmas time, for example, you can barely move for all the Advent and festive comps there are to be enjoyed.

And at this time of year, we're seeing a lot of Mother's Day themed comps spring up, as well as the inevitable Easter comps.

There's no mystery to why Easter competitions often offer up chocolate of one sort or another as a prize - after all, this is an occasion that is very much associated with this sort of treat!

Supermarket shopping becomes that bit more exciting when you're a comper!

Comps come in all manner of varieties. And if you're the sort of person who likes putting your brain to use on puzzles, you'll find that your hobby and skills could come in handy in letting you enter a whole raft of them!  

It won't have escaped many compers' notice that Royal Mail stamps are about to see a price rise.

First Class stamps are going to see their cost go up to 62p - a rise of two pence - on March 31st.

Second Class stamps will go up to 53p at the same time, meaning they'll set you back three pence more than they currently cost.

It goes without saying that luck plays a part in comping, and so it's perhaps a good thing - for those of us of a superstitious nature, at least - that the '13' at the end of this year is soon to be replaced with a '14' - potentially a far more friendly number for compers who hold store in these matters!
