Summer Days - WIN a Picnic Hamper (CLOSED)

Hello everyone!  Well, not long to go now until the long summer break for the children, and maybe even a nice break for us adults too!  What do you have planned this summer?  Will you be going abroad, jetting off somewhere exotic and tropical, or maybe staying in the UK and exploring some of the delights that we have to offer here?  No foreign holiday for us this year, but busy saving pennies to hopefully take the family away to Spain next summer.  So, it will be day trips and exploring the Isle of Wight this summer for us – unless I win a holiday in the meantime of course haha!

If you are planning n enjoying some picnics this summer, then we have the perfect competition for you!  Compers News are giving you the chance to win this delightful 4 person willow picnic hamper, including plates, cutlery and all the essentials needed for a good, old fashioned family picnic in the sunshine!  All you have to do is comment below with what would be your perfect summer day!  For me, it would be bright sunshine with a nice breeze, taking the children and the husband to Steephill Cove beach here on the Island, and enjoying a picnic of homemade sausage rolls, pork pies, scotch eggs, lots of fruit and a big flask of coffee – but as we are talking dream situations, maybe we can have a chauffeur and then substitute the coffee for a bottle of chilled wine!  Wasps would not feature in my dream summer day, but ice creams, sandcastles and playing beach ball all would!  How about you, what would feature in your dream summer day?  Entries need to be in by 23:59 on Tuesday 15th July 2014, and one winner will be picked at random from all the entries received.

So get thinking and dream and good luck with the competition - lots of Lucky Dust to you all!

My ideal summers day is waking early to the sun streaming through the windows, creeping downstairs before anyone wakes and sitting in the garden for a few hours with my favourite magazine (Comper's news of course).

The day would start with a healthy and filling full english breakfast and some hot steaming coffee. Then we'd travel to the lake district and spend the day leisurely walking around the lakes, taking in the scenery and splashing feet in the water's edge. I would then go to our favourite cafe for a coffee and a piece of lemon meringue pie, which it's famous for! Then we'd head back home. Wonderful memories. Thank you.

I'd wake up early with a light haze over the ground but I'd sense a wonderful day ahead, the weather would clear and we'd head out to the Northumberland coast by helicopter and decide exactly where to land dependent on which stretch of beach took our fancy. The family would have beach games - rounders and beach volleyball on a still and calm day, the dogs would jump in and out the chilly waters whilst we'd set up camp with windbreaks, picnic blankets and plenty of snacks and drinks to keep us happy. We'd see a beach buggy approach in the distance with our lunch - we'd have smoked salmon, fresh stottie bread, fruit, prosecco and a celebratory cake. We'd chatter and natter all afternoon, sharing jokes, reminiscing and making plans for our next rendezvous. We'd photograph all the fun and await our transport to whisk us away for the night, in readiness for the same sort of fun on another beach tomorrow xx

Being whisked away to a private beach with a picnic and champagne waiting. Sitting under the parasol watching the sea and enjoying the company of my husband and son. Then later I would love to stroll along the beach and watch the evening sunset.

Picnic on a dog-free beach with plenty of buckets, spades and balls to keep the little ones amused.Cooking some Samphire and fishy things found.

A pooch walk along the seafront at Budleigh Salterton, picking up an ice-cream along the way and walking without a care in the world as the breeze blows the cobwebs away - my very own Forest Gump summer moments - ending up with a bbq picnic on the beach at dusk, watching the sun set :)

On Constantine Bay in Cornwall with all the children and grandchildren. Perfect weather. A swim in the sea. Chilled white wine. No sand in the sandwiches. Everybody happy? You bet your life we are!

My dream summer day would start with waking up early and making my son's favourite breakfast, raisin or blueberry pancakes & strawberries with milk (oj or coffee for mummy & daddy) before getting in the car nice & early before it's too hot and doing the 90 minute drive to to Osmington mills in Dorset. I would get the picnic out of the car and hide it somewhere cool before we would play in the rock pools and see what creatures we could spot. The boys would run around whilst mummy takes an hour to read a book/magazine, before I try to take some sneaky pics of them playing in the sunshine for the creative comps :) we would then swap so daddy gets a little break too before all trying to skim rocks together before picnic lunch of French bread, cheese & homemade cake, with a cheeky mini bottle of fizz for the grown ups. We would then pack up the car and head up the hill to the campsite, pitch our tent before doing the coastal walk to Weymouth. After sand castles, frisbee and football on the beach we would get fish & chips which we'd eat out of the paper before heading back to our tent. The sea air will have made the small one snoozy, so he will quickly fall asleep while mummy & daddy sit outside the tent playing cards with a hot choc (or maybe even a glass of wine) until it's time for us to sleep too. Bliss.

My ideal summers day would be spent on Perranporth beach in Cornwall with my family and our 2 dogs. we would spend the day paddling in the rock pools and exploring the beach, playing rounders and eating lots of summery treats :)

A nice day - but not too hot - witha free day off work - with nothing planned and nothing needing to be done. Dog walk on the beach for the morning, and then all off to the woods for the afternoon, and back to the beach for the evening with cool breezes and the scents of the day and home to bed tired, de -strssed and relaxed.

My favourite Summer day sees me and my family at Charlestown in Cornwall, we've been going there so long now it's like a second home. Early in the morning I'll be out with my daughter with the crab line and bucket, and I'm not afraid to get knee deep and usually wet through, whilst she stands and laughs. Bike rides are a favourite and there is a beautiful yet very steep ride from Charlestown to the quaint fishing village of Mevagissey,. It is compulsory at this point to have a picnic by the harbour, followed by a large ice cream. The ride back is tough, but if we have any energy left at all, we catch the last of the sunshine and hit the beach when most people are leaving. In wetsuits it's not so cold for my husband and kids and as I am rubbish at bodyboarding, I can sit on the beach with a flask of coffee watching my family have fun. I also get to take lots of photos and enjoy the sunsets. I take loads of photos for comps and do loads of postcards whilst I'm waiting. We are more than peckish by this point, so we stop off for traditional fish and chips and get a DVD that everybody agrees on to watch (easier said than done!!) - the perfect summers day from start to finish!!

My ideal day - which I actually plan to make happen - is wake up early at the camp site, have a hearty breakfast and make packed lunch and go hill-walking. Taking many pictures, admiring the view, then once we are back down OH massaging my feet and soaking his own in a mountain stream and icy cold water. Simple rustic dinner staring at the camp fire and falling asleep fast and sleeping well.

Our perfect summers day is a trip to the beach with our lovely friends. Even if it's not sunny we sit and natter, catch up and drink tea! The children swim, play and have lots of free fun. Happy days x

Waking up to a glorious morning in our Sidmouth flat, breakfast on the balcony, walk on the esplanade, afternoon tea at Connaught Gardens then dinner at the Anchor - no car - walk home - bliss

A warm and lazy day in the garden, grass cut, borders weeded ,no housework to do and telephones and laptops turned off ,just time to watch the birds and insects and relax with family and pets

Waking up to a lovely bright morning with the promise of sun all day long. Picnic ready to go, car filled with chairs and rugs and off to the sand dunes at Southport. Sitting amidst the dunes, sheltered from the wind, the children playing and a really good book to read. Ah...... bliss.......

My ideal summer day would definitely being going on a lovely long walk, through country lanes and fields, coming across tiny villages and then stopping for a picnic lunch - in a spot with a view. The flask definitely comes out at that point - nothing quite like a coffee in the fresh air while taking a breather from a walk and admiring the view.

My favourite summers day would have to be bodyboarding at Polzeath, Cornwall with a tasty picnic lined up for lunchtime and a new Compers News to dive into for the afternoon! Bliss!

I have just had my ideal summer day on holiday. Biking through Austria with the Alps as a backdrop. Beautiful weather and clean alpine air. Twisty, switchback roads and a stop off for apple strudle and cream.

a nice picnic day out for me would involve a flight across the atlantic to new york! then id have a nice posh picnic with champers , volavents and lots of cupcakes too!! that would be bliss

I would go back to my roots in the Yorkshire Dales, find a little stream and spread my picnic out for me and my family and spend quality time together which is very rare at the moment as we are all to busy working, we would paddle in the water and reminisce about times gone by with the sun shining down, Bliss

My ideal summer day would be a family visit to somewhere really interesting...with no arguments or bickering..air conditioning that works in the car.. a healthy packed lunch and a bit of a tan by the end of the day :)

A lazy breakfast, al fresco, the kids straight in the paddling pool then pack up a huge picnic and trek off to some atmospheric castle ruins where we can run in and out of what's left of the castle, chasing each other working up a big appetite for our scrummy picnic lunch.

Start the day off with a lie in, bike ride with the kids, picnic, and ice cream!

Hot sunshine with a nice sea breeze, no sand though because it gets everywhere, no ants or wasps with lots of chocolate.

My ideal Summer day is to take a bike ride along the Northumbrian coastline with my family and stopping off on route for a lovely picnic, all that fresh air and freedom is brilliant and exhilarating!

My ideal summer day will be spent with my lovely hubby and kids on our bikes!! Hoping to go to Center Parcs, I love the fresh air and freedom!! Even if the sun doesn't shine we will be together enjoying life!!!

I dream of relaxing in the grounds of my stately home, champagne in hand , being wafted with those MASSIVE feathers by a tanned hunk, whilst I peruse the glossy pages of my new Porsche brochure . Oh and another hunk feeding me grapes etc etc etc !! ;)

I dream of relaxing in the grounds of my stately home, champagne in hand, being wafted with those MASSIVE feathers by a tanned hunk, whilst I peruse the glossy pages of my new Porsche brochure.- Oh , and also being fed grapes by another hunk. Hard life ;)

Waking up to bright sunshine and the sound of the birds ( no alarm clocks!). collecting a ready made scrumptious picnic hamper and heading out for a coastal walk, with the sun glinting on the sea, not a cloud in the sky. Picnicking on smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels, strawberries and cream, a lovely light rose wine, fresh coffee, them meandering down to the beach for a dabble among the rock pools and a dip in the warm sea. Finally, another picnic - salads and meats this time - and off to the Battle Proms, to finish the day in style!

A day trip to Chester. In the morning a trip to the world famous Zoo. There is a chance to have a picnic in their beautiful grounds with the sound of a lion roaring in the background. In the afternoon, a chance to shop in their designer shops and boutiques.

Relaxing on the beach with a picnic and sunshine!

Wake up to birdsong and sunshine, then our two little boys have a lie in while I drink fresh coffee. Hang out outside in the sunshine in an english country garden with my family with a constant supply of cream teas and wine x

My ideal Summer day would be to pack up my oil paints, canvas, food and little dog and head to the quiet woods near my home and sit and paint all day!! Create a superb painting and hang it in my lounge to remind me of the Summer when Winter sets in!

My ideal day would be a picnic with friends, by the river and a hamper full of goodies, No-one else around. Then perhaps a boat row if not too hot!

My ideal day would be a day out to Whitby, with traditional British fish and chips, 2p machines, a stroll round town in the salty breeze and an ice cream cone to finish off!!

A picnic in a summer meadow with butterflies flying overhead, flowers swaying in the warm breeze and the sound of a river in the distance. Fresh crusty baguettes, pork pies, and mixed salad, chilled bucks fizz and strawberries dipped in chocolate would make it simply perfect.

My ideal summer day would be a trip to the beach with my children and, ideally, my husband, probably to Druridge Bay country park in Northumberland.

We could have a walk around the lake and go on the stepping stones, a picnic, maybe even buy a coffee and then go and play on the beach. And we'd have enough petrol to get there and back without worrying about it and enough to buy fish and chips on the way home.

Perfect summer days mean a lazy walk at the beach eating fish and chips and later an ice cream.

Afternoon tea in my garden with the latest edition of compers news

My dream day would be in the middle of a quiet beach with just my friends and family around, sun shining, playing rounders, cooking a barbecue and laughing lots :) can't beat that I don't think

My ideal summers day would be spent glamping in a gorgeous tent on a Devon beach. Waking up in my lovely double bed, having a shower, and stepping out onto the beach with a mug of tea to watch the sunrise. I would then spend the day collecting driftwood, leaves, feathers, shells and anything else I could use for my home made cards, and spend some time paddling in the sea, sunbathing, reading book, and walking along the beach. A meal would be cooked for me with a glass of wine and I would sit and watch the sun go down. Perfect.

I'd re-live the picnics I used to have, as a child, with my parents. Sandwiches would be prepared from an uncut loaf. Butter spread on (sometimes tearing holes in the bread). Fillings would be egg and tomato mixed and seasoned. There would be home made cake and strawberries from the garden.
We would take some stale bread to feed the ducks then sit by the river at Morpeth watching the rowing boats and greeting people walking by, asking them to take our picture.
We would probably nod off for a few moments as we breathed in the aroma of wild garlic and listened to the hum of insects.
We'd walk back to the park to see if there was anyone playing bowls or tennis. We would admire the immaculate lawns and flower beds. Then cross the footbridge and stop by the ice cream van for a cornet of ice cream topped with raspberry flavour.
The day would end with a drive past my old school and thoughts of visiting my old family home. Maybe next time I'll be able to do it without a tear rolling down my cheek.

This competition is now CLOSED - thanks for all your entries, a winner will be picked shortlyy
