Finding comp opportunities on Facebook

We all know that Facebook is a great social tool - one that means you can be in touch with people who you may not have seen in years with incredible ease - but it's also a brilliant place to head for comping.

It won't have escaped many competition fans' notice that this service is a place that a lot of different brands use to promote comps. And entering is often incredibly simple.

So next time you're on Facebook, why not take the time to get to grips with some of the comps that are being run using the service? You never know, you might just strike it lucky!

Getting to Facebook comps

There are a range of ways that people can get to Facebook comps.

One great one is Compers News' publisher Accolade's The Prize Finder website, for example.

There's an entire section on this site that's dedicated to Facebook comps, and this is essentially a one-stop-shop for anyone looking to get their name into a few comps that are being advertised on the social media platform in as little time as possible.

A systematic way to get involved in lots of Facebook comps would be to work through the listings here, picking out any comps that appeal and giving them a go.

Of course chance might still play a part in your attention being drawn to Facebook comps, too. Look out for them when you're out and about in the real world (they may be advertised in shops, for example).

And the search bar at the top of Facebook can be a starting point to comping on the social network as well. Put in the name of a brand you think you'd be interested in entering a comp from, find their official page (some brands will have different pages for different regions of the world) and check to see if they're advertising any competitions.

Then you could also decide to Like the brand, as a way of staying updated about forthcoming news, such as comps it might be running.

Compers News Advent comp!

In order to explain the way that many Facebook comps work, let's look at a promotion currently on offer on non other than the Compers News Facebook pageitself.

You'll notice that, when you reach the page, the comp is advertised on the menu just below our cover image. This row of images is a great place to look for comps on a brand's page.

Also notice that there's a 'Notes' link here. This is a good place to look for Facebook comp terms and conditions and extra competition info - something it's always wise to read before you put your entry in.

For example, when it comes to the Compers News festive comp, a set of notes in this section lets you know that December 24th is the day of the last competition in the promotion.

When you click the Advent Comp link on our Facebook page, you'll be taken to a new page and immediately asked to 'Like' us on Facebook, if you haven't already.

This is a very common thing for comps on Facebook to ask you to do before you can take part. Obviously, by liking Compers News, you'll also be connecting to the Facebook presence of a great source of comping information, so it's always worth giving us a like, Facebook comp or no Facebook comp!

An entry form appears once you've liked the page, as is often the case in Facebook comps. Sometimes you'll just have to pop in your details and submit. In the case of the advent comp, things are a little more involved - and fun!

You have to name a product from a picture on the main Compers News Facebook page to be placed into the draw for that day. Each day between December 1st and 24th there's a National Lottery scratchcard prize to be won.

Whatever information an entry form asks of you, take care as you fill it in. Though you may want to rush through so you can get onto the next comp, you'll want to ensure all the information you put in here is correct - not least the answer to any competition question it might ask of you!
