Win Gardening Goodies with National Allotment Week (CLOSED)

Hello everyone! How is your week going, any nice wins to report? Had a random surprise win turn up in the post on Monday – a sample of LA Muscle whey protein powder and a copy of Muscle magazine haha. I think this was one of 3,000 prizes given away by Mr Hyde, but all wins are good wins I say! Not quite sure where the time is going now though, doesn’t seem like there is enough of the summer holidays left for us to fit everything in. Cowes Week is still going on here on the Island, then we have a trip to see my parents planned, a couple of English Heritage activities, playdates, last few bits of school uniform shopping and think we will then nearly be into September – yikes!

The summer days seem to come and go so quickly don’t they – no sooner have we all made our plans for the week, than before you know it the weekend is here and another week is almost upon us! Still, can’t complain though as the weather has been really lovely and we have managed to do some really lovely family activities so far this summer.  We are in the process of trying to find a new house at the moment too, so hopefully by next summer we will have some kind of outdoor space for the children to enjoy, as well as being able to go and have fun.

I have also applied for us to go on the local list for allotment applications too – might be a while until we get to the top of the waiting list but worth a go!  Did you know that it is National Allotment Week this week (10 – 16 August 2015) – I certainly didn’t realise!  What a great time to celebrate the humble allotment, and challenge the misconception that they are boring places populated by people over 65.  Allotments can be a fabulous family experience – what better way to teach the kids about where food comes from than by growing some yourself, and then showing them how to cook It too!  It’s a great way to teach about the seasons too, as well as the food chain, environmental awareness and many other interesting subjects, all through the use of a small patch of dirt, some seeds and a little knowledge

To celebrate National Allotment Week here at Compers News we want to give you the opportunity to win some lovely gardening themed prizes.  Enter this month’s exclusive members-only comp and you could; be winning a pretty enamel mug, garden journal and allotment set in a tin from the Thoughtful Gardener.  You could soon be enjoying a mug of your favourite beverage, noting down your gardening to-do list while enjoying watching the fruits of your labours growing – either in your own allotment, in your garden or simply watching your window boxes.
