Get Ready For Summer - Win a £50 Boots Voucher (CLOSED)

Hello everyone!  How is your week going, any nice wins to report?  Another nice Twitter win here of a £50 voucher for Fayre & Square pubs from Twitter – will be a nice way to treat my parents when we visit over the summer, as we usually go to their local Fayre & Square for lunch.  Well, the children are off and the summer has begun!  We were off camping at the weekend for the first time, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.  We all got really stuck into the non-electric life playing board games and cards, cooking on the camp stove and sitting round the fire pit doing quizzes in the evening – really jolly nice!

What do you have planned for the summer months?  Are you off on some exotic foreign holiday, or maybe it is a staycation this year with lots of home-grown fun?  If, like me, you have little ones at home and are still working over the summer I bet your comping has to take a bit of a backseat during these months – I know mine does!  I like to try and find some practical competition prizes that will help out over the summer too – supermarket comps, toys, games and vouchers are always handy.

With this in mind how do you fancy winning a £50 Boots voucher to help out this summer?  Well that’s exactly what we have on offer this month for our exclusive competition just for Compers News members.  Join in and you could be stocking up on sun cream, treating yourself to some new make up or just purchasing all the essentials we need every day like shampoo, bubble bath and moisturiser.  To enter you need to be a registered Compers News member and logged into your account.  Then just leave me a message in the comments below with your best summer health & beauty tip.  This could be how to keep your make up on in the heat, how to make sure your hair doesn’t frazzle during the summer or how to stay healthy with all that ice cream as a temptation!  One entry per person, comments are modified so won’t appear immediately and entries close at 23:59 on Tuesday 28th July 2015.  One winner will be chosen at random after the closing date – good luck everyone and enjoy the sunshine!

Happy comping everyone, and lots of Lucky dust to you all!

Kirsty x

Hats and loose clothing

Always carry water and sunscreen. Our weather can change in an hour --- or even less.

Make sure you keep well hydrated by drinking more water and less alcohol. Keep feet cool and fresh with a peppermint or lavendar spray!

Remember sunglasses too - make sure they are ones to protect your eyes from the UVA and UVB rays along with sunhat

Always take a mini fan when you go out in hot vehicles

Make the most of the abundance of fabulous fruits and veggies at this time of the year.
Great for your complexion and you won't pile on the pounds.

Get your eyelashes dyed and use plenty of sunscreen

Drink lots of water and use sun cream and moisturiser where possible to keep your skin hydrated and protected from the sun.

Lather yourself in a moisturiser 1/2 hour before going to bed every night but especially when you've been in the sun. Let it soak in before you get into bed though!

Pure coconut oil, organic if possible. Can be used after sunbathing, can be used on any dry areas , helps to stop peeling. Just dont use it as a sun lotion though. just after sun or after shower. can be used on face or lips, can even be eaten some people put it in cooking eg porridge to slow down alzheimers.

Drink hot lemon first thing to cleanse your system for the day.

Use a face moisturiser with SPF everyday, even when the sun's hiding behind the clouds. They tend to be less thick and greasy than sun creams for the face.

On a bright day, and before the sun gets too strong, go out for a brisk 20 minute walk and just ENJOY the fresh air, warmth and free Vitamin D!

Walking bare foot on the sand is not only good for your feet but sand is a great free exfoliator for those cracked heels.

stay hydrated by drinking lots of water and remember to apply a good strong factor suncream to all that skin..>Dont forget the aftersun to keep skin moisturised x

Our feet can get neglected over the winter so my tip is to get a professional pedicure before the flip flops and sandals come out!

Make sure you stay hydrated and wear loose, comfortable clothes.

Aloe Vera gel is brilliant for too much sun exposure, insect bites and practically any skin irritation.

If you have blonde hair, whilst sunbathing, squeeze fresh lemon juice on to your hair. Wash and condition well and you will find that your hair will have a sunkissed look!

Always wear sun cream I wished I had when I was younger

If you're prone to mozzie bites then oil of lemon eucalyptus is said to be one of the most effective natural repellents. Also, wearing light coloured clothing not only keeps you cooler but helps repel the little blighters as they're more attracted to dark colours.

Drink plenty of water to keep hydrated and your skin will look fantastic and you will feel good too.

Keep your eyeliner in the fridge to make it easier to apply plus drink plenty of water

water, water pays to stay hydrated and keep the sunscreen on

Don't wait until you're on holiday to wear those new sandals. To avoid nasty blisters, wear them around the house for a week or so before you go.They will still look brand new & comfy feet are guaranteed!

Use lavender oil to keep mosquitos away sprinkle on pillows and clothing. It really works.

SUMMER HAIR
With all the sunshine and swimming make sure you give your hair a DEEP conditioning treatment
Shampoo hair twice
Towel dry comb your wet hair with a wide tooth comb apply lots of conditioner cover hair with cling film
Leave on for 10 mins
Rinse off for silky soft hair

Always wear a hat in warm weather, to protect you from sunstroke and also to protect your hair, especially if it is coloured.

Tiger Balm is great for Mosquito bites and of course dont forget your copy of Compers news!

My top summer tip is let your skin breathe while it can and wear as little make up as you dare - just use a tinted moisturiser with sunscreen and let your summer face shine through and glow ! Dont forget also that hair needs a little bit more love in the summer - use a bit more conditioner or treat yourself to a hair mask - why not ..you are worth it ! :)

Use waterproof products to stay looking cool whether swimming, sweating or being drenched in the rain! ;-)

Always apply sun cream even if it looks cloudy out and don't forget the lip balm to protect your lips

Have your eyelashes dyed before you go. It saves your mascara running and they look great all day.

Drink plenty of water and wear high factor sun cream, and to cool down quickly stand in a cold bucket of water and apply cold water to your wrists, works a treat.

take lots of 'photos of your family enjoying themselves during the summer holidays because there's always loads of comps around that require a family 'photo entry - especially beach themed ones & ones with picnics.

If ice cream is too tempting try making yogurt ice cream as there is always a glut of fresh fruit/berries to liven it up this time of year

I never go on holiday, home or abroad, without a small bottle of Lavender. It's great neat for cuts, bites or grazes. A cloth soaked in tepid water, to which drops of lavender oil have been added, applied to sun burn will help to alleviate and sooth the burning. It can also be used as an antiseptic wipe to clean surfaces. A few drops in water added to a small handbag atomiser is great for rehydrating and freshening your face on flights. I could go on and on so would suggest buying a small book on all the properties of lavender and taking it along with you as part of your holiday reading matter.

Always wear a sun hat in outside warm weather to reduce wrinkles

Waterprrof mascara!

Wear sunglasses, apply sunscreen, drink plenty of water and remember lip balm x

Make sure you always have vaseline with you - it's a great lip balm, moisturiser and can be used on any insect bites etc too!

Try to buy make up with UVA protection built in and wear a hat or try stay in shade to keep cool

If you have kids that are covered in sand, don't try and brush it off!! Apply some talc and leave for a few minutes then it will come off easily. The talc absorbs any water and spares those painful moments we all remember as kids with mums literally sandpapering skin with a rough towel and making us cry!!

Go easy on the sunbathing, and getting 'weathered' - or your skin will end up looking leathered!

Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration, and partake of plenty of Summer superfoods like delicious strawberries & raspberries

Keep a big bowl of fresh fruit salad in the fridge, with low fat Greek yogurt... then if you get a craving for something sweet you can have a small portion rather than reaching for a biscuit or chocolate. Tasty, but not too fattening!

Use an exfoliating foot lotion at night so that your feet are sandal-ready in the morning. I recommend Flexitol or Philosophy Soul Owner.

Thanks for all your fab tips - this comp is now CLOSED. A winner will be chosen, contacted and announced shortly x

Many congratulations to our winner PENELOPE SENIOR! Well done Penelope, and keep your eyes peeled for another fab exclusive competition in August!
