Win a Sandwich Press with British Sandwich Week (CLOSED)

Hello again compers!  How is your week going, any nice wins to report?  A few bits for me since we last spoke including a children’s onesie from a twitter comp, a set of gourmet burger sauces from a Facebook comp, a family ticket to a local 10-pin bowing centre and a children’s book and poster from Gransnet – had a good few days for wins!  Busy trying to get ahead again before the next half term and Bank Holiday hit us – we will be off to the Mainland for a few days, so will be completely out for work action.  Do you find you are always trying to get ahead as soon as the weather starts to get better, so you can spend more of your free time doing fun things?

We have already had our first picnics of the year here – doesn’t take much for us to pack up a basket and head out for the day to be honest.  Do you enjoy a good picnic too?  Did you know that this week is British Sandwich Week (10 – 16 May 2015) – what a great time to celebrate the ultimate in fast food!  Everyone loves a sandwich whether it is white bread, brown bread, a wrap, a roll, a posh Panini or a French stick – who can resist!  Even when the weather isn’t quite there in terms of heat yet, as it is at the moment, you can still enjoy the great British sandwich by having it toasted – nothing better for me than a warm, melting cheese & Marmite sandwich on a cool spring evening!

To celebrate British Sandwich Week Compers News has a fabulous competition for all our lovely members.  How would you like to win a Breville Stainless Steel Sandwich press – sounds yummy doesn’t it!  With this family sized, four slice sandwich press you can be whipping up warm, delicious sandwiches for the whole crew.  With its hinged lid it can cope with different sizes of bread as well as ciabatta and focaccia, has a non-stick flat plate for easy cleaning and a locking mechanism meaning that it can be stored upright and off your precious surface space!  To enter all you need to do is to tell me your favourite sandwich filling of all time.  That’s a really hard question for me – some days it could be bacon and brie, some days it could be ham salad, but I think my go-to sandwich has to be the humble cheese & pickle sarnie, with good strong cheddar and lashings of Branston pickle.

You need to be a registered Compers News member to enter, log into your account and leave me a comment below with your answer.  Comments are moderated and as such won’t appear immediately, one entry per person and entries close at 23:59 on Tuesday 19th May 2015 – good luck everyone!

Happy comping and lots of Lucky Dust to you all!

Kirsty x

Its a hard choice for me too dependig how I feel ( and how many calories I am counting !) but my all time favourite sandwich is cheese and celery ! mmmmmmm - I just love the combination of tasty strong cheese and the crunch of the celery ! I want one now .... ;)

Brie with cranberry chutney or jam - delicious

Tuna,cu and low fat mayo for me.

my favourite filling is tuna mayonnaise, plenty of it and a few slices of cucumber

Wensleydale cheese, tomato and Branston pickle

Prawn mayo for me

Likewise it depends on how I feel, but probably my favourite is Turkey stuffing and cranberry sauce

Tuna and Cucumber with lemon juice and black pepper.

My current favourite is Wensleydale, grated carrot and red onion marmalade. Can't get enough of this combination!!

Depends whether you are talking toasted or cold sandwich. If you are talking either then my answer would be
COLD: Granary bread, prawns in light mayonnaise sprinkled delicate herbs.
TOASTED: Italian bread, two types of melting cheese, tomatoes, tinned sardines well drained, basil.
Thanks for the comp.

My favourite is honey, banana and cream cheese! Delicious!

Smoked salmon and cream cheese

I don't really ever eat sandwiches as but if I am tempted then it is condensed milk and crunchy peanut butter sandwich.

I like salmon and watercress the best

Cheese, cress and crisps.

My favourite is spicy mixed vegetable like you get in samosas. Today I'm making a sandwich and the filling is spicy potatoes, peas and onions. Yummy!

Cheddar Cheese, tomato and mayo

Yum, yum I love all types of sandwich but if I had to choose my favourite filling it would be cheese, onion and pickle on brown bread, preferably doorstep slices.

mozzarella tomato and basil

Mine is traditional, a nice strong cheddar, raw onion, and smooth pickle

Roast beef with lots of red onion and a sprinkling if salt.

Brie cheese and red grape is delicious.

It has to be salt and vinegar crisps for me! Hope this isn't being judged on healthiness!

Ham salad

I think my favourite is probably egg mayonnaise with cherry tomatoes which I have grown myself.

A straight forward ham and cheese

Cold - Egg Mayo, but with salad cream rather than mayo if I make it myself
Hot - Ham & Cheese panini

My favourite sandwich of all time is boiled egg. Has memories of Mom making this for us when she was struggling to make ends meet. I loved it made with thin granary bread when I was in my first flat and short of money. My lovely Dad turned to them when he was very ill and did not fancy too much to eat. The humble egg sandwich pretty much meets all our needs.

My favourite sandwich filling is cheese, celery and spring onion, yummy!
