Something For The Weekend - Win 1 of 20 Weekend Breaks with Princes Corned Beef

Hello again compers!  How was your week, any nice wins to report?  A couple of wins for me since last time including a boater hat from the Brakspear Brewery instant win and a Russell Hobbs mini oven worth about £85 that I won for my daughters’ school in the Anchor Baking Kits for Schools  promotion.  I always keep my eyes peeled for prizes for the school and the school is really pleased when we win prizes for them - my children take a lot of pride in the fact that their mummy helps out from time to time too by winning something new for the school.

This year seems to have been a very expensive one already.  For some reason this year we have a disproportionate amount of “big” birthdays and anniversaries.  Both my sister in law and her husband turn 40 this year, they also celebrate their 10^th wedding anniversary, my nephew turned 18, my mother turned 65 and myself and my husband have also been together 10 years this year.  It seems like every month we are planning for the next big birthday party, celebration or trip away to see family.  This has put some strain on the bank balance, and belts have had to be tightened.  I am trying to meal plan as much as I can, so that I can be super-effective when it comes to food shopping and stretching meals.  I love quick, low cost meal ideas too – nothing better than a big bowl of pasta with a homemade vegetable sauce, cauliflower cheese or a slow cooker full of stew.  There is a lot to be said for old fashioned recipes when it comes to making money go further too, and corned beef hash is one of my favourites – I will be making a big batch this weekend.
