Happy New Year From Compers News

Hello again compers!  How has your week been so far, any nice wins to report?  Still in full festive swing here so not had much time for comping to be honest.  We have relatives from the mainland here at the moment spending New Year with us, so dare say full comping service won’t resume until the kids go back to school next week.  I am getting some withdrawal symptoms already, but I know when I go back to comping in January I will be refreshed and reinvigorated to win some lovely things.

Can you believe it is New Year’s Eve already - where has 2014 gone?  Will you be heading out to celebrate New Year’s Eve tonight, or will you spend it at home?  For me, with two small kiddies we are very rarely out for New Year’s Eve.  To be honest I am quite happy sat watching Jools Holland with a glass of something bubbly and enjoying the fireworks on TV.

How was 2014 for you and yours?  How has it been comping-wise?  In terms of money value I am slightly down this year at about £3,500, but I have won more than 200 individual prizes, which is more than double what I won last year.  It is all the little prizes that keep us going isn’t it, and things like food and voucher wins are the ones that really help in a tangible way.  I have had some lovely wins this year including £250 of low fat food and snacks on a Twitter comp, 12 pairs of shoes on the BHS Facebook comp, a Kindle Fire HD from a Facebook comp where there were 20,000 entries and £100 of Brantano shoes.  I have managed to win presents for my girls’ and niece & nephew’s birthdays and Christmas, stocked the cupboard with crisps, wine and cheese and won enough books to open our own library.  So all in all I really can’t complain about the comping year that’s just finished.  I didn’t manage to win the elusive hamper or a Lapland trip, but there is always next year!

Do you have any comping resolutions for 2015?  I intend to do more creative and effort-required comps, as well as focusing more on Pinterest and Instagram.  I have only won once on Instagram (some Sylvanian Families which my daughter had for Christmas), but have never won a Pinterest comp.  I also intend to be more organised and enter for things I really want before I enter anything else.  This year I would still love to win a holiday and a night away in London for us all, so that’s my main priority.  How about you, what would you really love to win in 2015?

Well, all that remains for me to say is to wish you a very Happy New Year from all of us here at Compers News, and we will see you all in 2015 for another year for of fabulous competition listings, advice and tips!

Happy comping, and lots of Lucky Dust to you all!

Hi Kirsty

New Year's Day now, so Happy Birthday.
My oh and I went out with another couple for a meal on December 30th while my mum had our two overnight then oh and I spent most of 31 December together before a birthday cake and tea for me at my mum's house.
We did end up staying up for the New Year - haven't for years - but I went to bed almost as Big Ben stopped striking.
Oh bought me a bike and Bravissimo vouchers for my birthday - we are off to San Francisco on a win and I haven't cycled for years so better get some practice in!
Would love to win things for the house, a spa day and luxury short breaks as well as days out, vouchers etc; however, probably like most of us I haven't been entering much so it could be a dry January.
I did decide to enter the A-Z of prizes last night - but as I only started at 23.15 I only got six done instead of all twenty-six, lol!
Good luck for 2015 and I hope your first win arrives very soon!

Kathryn

Hi Kathryn Happy new year! Sounds like you had a lovely New Year! We had relatives staying with us so went out for my birthday for a meal in Southampton, which was a nice novelty. All the kiddos did really well staying up on New Years Eve. We went to our social club and all stayed there until about 10.30, before heading home to put the kids to bed and watching a film just the adults until after midnight. Sounds like you had some lovely Christmas gifts! I had a lovely new handbag and a fluffy purple onesie for my birthday lol. I am still on the case of trying to win my first holiday this year - am certain this will be the year! One win so far for me - some ginger biscuits I won from entering a twitter comp with Border biscuits. You were meant to send in a picture of you with ginger biscuits, but I sent one in of my youngest daughter instead, who has beautiful red hair lol. Have a great weekend when it comes! Kirsty x
