Something For The Weekend - WIN Cash With Butterkist's 100th Birthday

Hello again compers!  Well, how was your first week back at school or work?  Any tears, from adults or children?  My eldest started back at school last week (Year 4 now, big girl),  and my youngest started “big school” Reception class on Monday – today will be her first full day, so we shall see how she is when I pick her up at 3pm!  I am guessing I may have 2 very tired children on my hands this afternoon!  I think the first few weeks of September are meant to be spent just relaxing and recovering from a busy summer.  Whether you have children at home or not, chances are you have been busier than usual during the summer months, and it is sometimes just nice to sit in the autumn evenings and catch up with some good books or a movie or two.

Funds are often a little stretched after the long summer months too – gone are the days perhaps of spending large amounts of money on days out and attractions like cinemas and theme parks.  It can be just as nice though to enjoy a “movie night at home”.  We often do just this – I dim the lights in the lounge, print off some “movie tickets” for the children, extend the legs on the reclining sofa for them, show them to their seats with a torch and present them with bowls of sweets and popcorn and drinks in plastic cups with straws – voila, instant, low cost cinema experience at home!  When we next have one of these evenings, I will be making sure to look out for the current Butterkist promotional popcorn packs!  To celebrate their 100th birthday, Butterkist are giving away 1000s of instant cash prizes ranging from £5 to £100!  To play, simply purchase a promotional bag, open it and see if it contains a golden birthday card!  If you have a winning card, pop online to claim your prize instantly.  Prizes will be sent out by cheque, and will arrive within 28 days of claiming.  The promotion is open from now until 31st May 2015, so there are plenty of movie nights to be had before then!  Even if you don’t win, you can print off a £0.50 off your next purchase of Butterkist from the website, with a code from every promotional pack.  You can claim a maximum of 4 of these coupons during the promotion – yum yum!

If cash and vouchers are on your comping Wish List at the moment, here are a few others competitions you might like to try this weekend:

  • Would £200 of M&S vouchers be helpful?  Of course it would!  You could be using these vouchers to update your wardrobe, buy groceries, or squirrel away Christmas gifts if you enter the Baby Swap or Shop competition by midnight on 15th September 2014.  Register / login to the site and answer the question (Our advice - £200), and you could be winning!
  • Do you enjoy Italian food in your house?  It is a firm family favourite here – pasta, pizza, meatballs, you name it!  Would you like to win a year’s supply of Sacla Pesto sauce, and £100 of supermarket vouchers?  I thought so!  Head over to the Good to Know website, register/login in and answer the question (Our advice – Green) by midnight on 28th September 2014 to win.  You can even enter daily until the closing date!
  • Are you a calm, careful driving, or are there certain things than enrage you and tick you off!  Play the Road Rage Gauge game on the Car Craft website and tweet your score over Twitter by midnight on 30th September 2014, and you will be entered into the draw to win £250 cash!
  • Have you been enjoying the Great British Bake-off again this year?  My eldest daughter can’t get enough of it!  I know she would love me to win the current Cookeen competition to win £200 of Love2Shop vouchers and a selection of Mary Berry Bakeware!  If you would like to enter too, pop over to the Cookeen website and answer the question (Our advice – Tiramisu) by midnight on 30th September 2014.
  • What would you buy with a £50 John Lewis gift card?  Clothes, cosmetics, accessories, homewares?  Too difficult to choose isn’t it!  You could be in the enviable position of making that choice if you enter the competition being hosted on the Honest Mum blog.  Enter via the Rafflecopter form by midnight on 15th October 2014 to be counted in the draw!

Happy weekend comping everyone, and lots of Lucky Dust to you all!

Hi Kirsty

Well, everyone's back at school, coming home with demands for money aka school trips and clubs, lol.

Have entered all but one of those competitions, thanks, right now I'd get excited about finding 20p! I have done slightly better than that as I found a Spar receipt for that daily iPad comp and won a box of chocolate fingers. The kids were really excited about this. When we made the special trip to the Spar, the shop didn't know what to do; I was the first person to come to claim anything, despite the fact the promotion's been running for ages. Eventually, after consultation between the staff, including ringing 2 people at home, they kept my receipt and noted my 8 digit no from the text and I was allowed to leave with said chocolate fingers.
Only later did I think that that receipt was for Maltesers Teasers for another comp........but I think that one's closed anyway though I don't remember seeing any winners.

So, I was hoping to have my meal that I won with my husband on a Saturday; he's busy every Saturday but one in September and October, and that particular Saturday I can't get a babysitter. So I will probably have to either change the day and/or my companion but my husband and I rarely get out together so I did want to be with him for it.

I also have a 2 night break to take with QMH hotels and my husband said we could go to Nottingham and then do the fine dining on the Great Central Railway as my birthday present. We were hoping to do it in November as I have the misfortune to have a birthday on New Year's Eve which is out as a date to do anything. Again, struggling with dates and babysitters.

And I really want to use my Alton Towers tickets (by 9 November) but the kids haven't come home with calendars so we don't know when half term is.

On a different note, I need to look and see what, if anything, I have for Xmas presents - don't think there's as much as I hoped so better get entering!

Good luck with all your entries

Kathryn

Hi Kathryn,

Yay we both survived summer - high five! V glad the kiddos are back, my youngest only started reception yesterday so is still on half days until Friday, but after then it is back to normal! I am waiting to be hit up for money - my eldest has her first residential trip this year and I am waiting for the letter about ti sooner rather than later.

Good job on your Spar win - I find supermarkets are often clueless on this kind of thing. I won a 4 pack of Coors Light recently and when I tried to claim at co-op it took more than 3 people, including 2 managers and about 30 minutes to try and sort out how to claim it. Always worth persevering though!

That's such a shame about your meal still not being sorted. I hope you and hubby get to go. Me and hubby rarely get out either, as have no family local and babysitters are extortionate. Have a friend with a teenage son who has babysat for us once, but we save him for extra special occasions. My birthday is New Years Day, so I sympathise completely about nobody wanting to do anything around your birthday. My hubby's birthday is 2 days before Christmas so we are doubly stuck at that time of year!

I am on a Christmas mission now. Won a £40 fancy dress voucher, so have ordered my youngest the fanciest Anna dress I could get and some Sofia the First accessories, and wil ut those away for Chrustmas.

Best of luck with it all hunny

Kirsty xx

Hi Kirsty

Well done on the fancy dress voucher, my daughter loves Frozen too. I think most little girls do

Kathryn

Hi Kathryn
Yes both mine are mad on it - the youngest says her reception class use it a lot in their teaching too. She has done Elsa and Anna colouring, and dances and sings to Frozen on the white board too already this week hehe. Had a small win of some Vosene 3 in 1 nit shampoo and conditioner turn up yesterday - all helps lol

Take care

Kirsty xx
