A library of comps!

Earlier this month we brought you a selection of teen fiction comps right here on the Compers News blog - your free insight into the world of Compers News.

This week, we thought we'd look mainly at comps featuring books aimed at slightly older readers, just to make it even clearer that books are a type of prize you see again and again.

Great places to find book comps include author websites (writers sometimes hold their own comps, to give away copies of their work, for example, or point readers in the direction of other comps linked to their books). The official social media pages of publishers and authors are another great source (it's always wise to follow the page that's local to you if there are more than one) andpublisher websites are another.

You will also be able to find comps on popular book blogs and book-themed websites.

Current book comps

The Folio Society is currently running a prize draw with Chinese novel Three Kingdoms as the prize. The comp ends March 31st and you can enter even if you're not a member.

We were in two minds about including this next comp, because you have to be a Waterstones cardholder to take part - but the size of the book prize is pretty epic, so we thought it was worth a mention.

Also, signing up for a Waterstones Card is free, so some compers might want to take advantage, if they love books and shop with the chain.

The cardholder exclusive comp includes a massive 24 books in its prize.

These range from children's books to adult fiction, and the list covers both classic and newer titles.

No matter what their taste, people are sure to find something they fancy reading among the list.

The competition marks recent novel Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore being included in the Waterstones Book Club.

And the list of book prizes includes three favourites from the author, Robin Sloan, as well as a list picked by The Society of the Unbroken Spine and a selection of Waterstones bookclub titles.

This comp is set to be underway until April 8th this year.

Meanwhile, the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund is giving away The Great Escaper by Simon Pearson in a comp ending March 31st and entered via an online form.

The Book Thief is one of those books that both teens and older readers enjoy.

A special signed copy of this Marcus Zusak book is being given away in a Saga comp.  It's not been signed by the author himself, but rather by Geoffrey Rush who plays the character of Hans in the new film version.

Also on offer in the comp is the John Williams penned score for the film.

Then there are four sets of runners-up prizes - which are unsigned copies of the novel, alongside the film score. The comp ends midday, April 11th and is an email competition, with entrants asked to send in their name and contact details. You must be over 50 to enter.

Mrs Brown's Boys is one of the most popular TV shows out there, but did you know that it was inspired by writer and star Brendan O’Carroll's Mrs Browne novels?

Until April 6th, book publication We Love This Book is offering the chance to win three sets of these books in an online entry form comp.

On the hunt for book comps? Accolade's The Prize Finder is an excellent spot to head. Simply search the word 'book' and you'll be able to browse a supply of book-flavoured comps. Book competitions are just one sort this comping companion offers, so literature lovers are far from the only kind of comper who will enjoy the site.
