Great teen book comps

It's never too early to begin comping - and there are often competitions out there designed to appeal to young people and children, although sometimes they'll have to get mum or dad to enter for them.

Teens are not left out of the comping world, and every month you'll see plenty of comps for kids this age.

Meanwhile, whether aimed at readers young or old, books often make a great comp prize. They're not too expensive to give away, and of course the hope is often that the winner will enjoy the book and recommend it to others.

We've found some of the web's current teen book comps and - because we're here to help - listed them below. All these comps feature prizes you might see in the Young Adult section of a book shop.

Teen titles

Our first current teen-book comp is being promoted by the mag Bliss.

The mag is giving away a pair of box sets featuring the first two films in the massively popular Hunger Games series, starring Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence as heroine Katniss.

The comp's three winners will also get all three Hunger Games books - The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay - by Suzanne Collins. The comp will close March 26th this year at 11pm.

People must be signed-up to the site to enter. Make sure you read all relevant material before taking part.

The site's general T&Cs do state that under 18s may need their parent to give them permission before entering comps or claiming what they win.

The Hunger Games isn't the only teen book series of the moment, of course, and Bliss has another, Divergent, covered by a comp, too.

They have three trilogy box sets waiting to be given away in this comp, which is closing April 2nd, 11pm, with winners also getting a Divergent branded tee-shirt.

The first of the books is about to hit cinemas as a film, and Shailene Woodley is starring as the character of Tris.

These two comps might well get you thinking about all the teen fiction there is out there.

We've also discovered that Atom, an imprint that publishes kids' and teen books, has just launched a comp with five copies of upcoming book The Young World by Chris Weitz to give away.

There's no link to the comp T&Cs or any closing date info on the page at the moment.

Published on various websites, including the Now magazine site, another new comp is linked to a freshly-published teen novel by the famous author David Baldacci.

There's a copy of his new book, The Finisher, on offer for ten runners up in the comp, which closes April 19th, and is the work of the publisher Macmillan Children's Books and Forest Holidays.

The big prize is a woodland cabin break for four nights. According to IPC Media T&Cs, only over 18s can enter.

Meanwhile, one of the comps currently in action on the World Book Day website is offering five copies of The Book Thief, a novel by Markus Zusak, which has only recently hit cinemas in the form of a new film. We couldn't find any age restriction among the T&Cs.

Joe Delaney's novel Spook's Alice is also up for grabs - again, there are five copies available to win. Both comps close March 25th.

Teen book comps are a common type of give-away. You might be able to find them on places like publisher websites and social media pages, as well as by searching Accolade's great website, The Prize Finder with appropriate keywords.

This sort of book is often enjoyed by adults as well as young people, of course.
