Four great things about Chatterbox

Are you a comper who likes to chat? If so, Chatterbox, Compers News' extra special online forum, could be for you!

It's a useful - and fun - place to hang out on the internet, and an exciting extra on top of the mag when you sign-up to be a Compers News member.

So if you've already got a subscription, but have yet to head to Chatterbox, what are you waiting for? It's simple to use and exciting to discover, so why not check Chatterbox out?

Here are just four of the many reasons why Chatterbox is so great.

It's helped a star comper

Di Coke, Compers News' own columnist, has to be one of the most famous compers out there.

As she says on our own website, she's spent 16 years comping, winning the likes of a trip to Brazil, a car and a trip to the BAFTAs in the process.

On Di's SuperLucky blog, the columnist reveals in a special section dedicated to Compers News that Chatterbox has helped her make great friends.

She came across the Compers News forum in 2001, then subscribed to the mag and found out about entry form, slogan and 'purchase necessary' comps in the process, Di says.

"The compers I've met through the online Chatterbox forum are some of my most treasured friends," she has explained.

It's unlikely you'd stumble into our forum these days, given that it's private and for members only. But we love the anecdote!

By the way, Di's username on Chatterbox is SuperLuckyDi.

There are so many different sections!

One of the first things compers are likely to notice when they hit Chatterbox is the sheer number of sections there are. It might seem like a lot to take in, but these specific sections are designed to help catagorise chat in a way that helps users.

There's even a Welcome to Chatterbox section, designed to appeal to new users, as well as a Non-Comping Natterbox, for off-topic talk, a great way to get to know people that bit better.

Some boards attract more posts than others - for example, the most popular by topics is Natterbox, if you don't count the Competitions Archive, which contains old posts.

It's simple to sign-up

When you join Compers News, you won't automatically be able to access Chatterbox. In order to enter the boards, you need a separate registration, although this is only available to Compers News members.

Registration is a simple matter of agreeing to a set of T&Cs (regular compers will know all about reading T&Cs fully!), then providing some simple information.

One of the first things you need to give is a username. There are some really imaginative usernames on the board, so have a think about choosing something that will reflect you well (and won't be tricky for other compers to remember to type out!).

As on any website, it's a good idea to go for a nice strong password - you're allowed to choose up to 30 characters, so should be able to think of something good.

You'll want to have your membership number to hand, as well as the Access Code that we include in Compers News (page 31).

It's regularly updated

Some online forums aren't much visited, but this isn't the case with Chatterbox. Some of the sections attract posts more regularly than others, but overall the chances are that you'll find new posts whenever you check back - making it a great place to add to your comping routine.

Why not use it in conjunction with the wonderful Accolade publishing website The Prize Finder? Together, chatterbox and this great online comps listings site could easily help provide you with a great range of comping leads!

Chatterbox is very welcoming, but remember whenever you're using any online communication platform to follow all the appropriate safety and security advice.
