Food and drink promos have come with some eye-wateringly large cash prizes lately.
First, Walkers started up its 'Do Us a Flavour' comp, which has been gracing supermarkets up and down the land (though you don't need to buy any crisps to enter).
The grand prize in this comp is a massive £1 million and it's a creative comp, in which people are asked to create a Walkers Crisps flavour.
Now, another on-pack promoted comp with a £1 million prize has been announced by Halewood International, the company behind Crabbie's drinks.
The comp is linked to The Grand National, which is taking place this April and which Crabbie's is sponsoring, and includes runner up prizes such as cash, Grand National tickets and Crabbie's Alcoholic Ginger Beer.
“This competition will allow fans of Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer to join in with the excitement of The Crabbie’s Grand National, even if they’re not able to attend the race itself," Crabbie’s senior brand manager, Claire Kelly, has explained.
Indeed, the promo will mean customers could win the same amount of cash as the actual Grand National victor will walk away with!
People buying Crabbie's Alcoholic Ginger Beer 'on trade' - in selected pubs and bars - this month and next month will get scratch cards linked to the comp. They will be able to put in a code from these which will mean they can play Donkey Derby, an online game, on Crabbie's website.
Crabbie's 330ml and 500ml sizes in a variety of flavours (Original, Strawberry and Lime, Scottish Raspberry) are included in the promo.
Off-trade, in places like shops, promotional bottles will be on sale, featuring the codes needed for the comp.
You can find the comp's T&Cs right here, which explain that the £1 million prize will be handed out to someone (or divided between more than one person) if they enter the online game, are chosen in a subsequent prize draw, and then guess correctly the order of the initial four finishers across the line at this year's Grand National.
As the T&Cs note, it is possible to make multiple online entries for the comp, up to six per day.
Of course, it's probably not a good idea to over-indulge in any product off the back of an on-pack promo, and that's especially the case when it's run on an alcoholic drink!
If you do like Crabbie's and decide to stock up a little while the comp is on, it's important to do this in a responsible way - perhaps you could buy several bottles for a party and share them with friends on the definite understanding that you will be able to use their bottle's code, and enjoy the prize in the event of a win!
We would suggest that it's possible to enter without actually opening the bottles - thus allowing you to save them for later, but in fact the T&Cs make clear that codes for the off-trade promo bottles are actually found beneath the caps - which just shows what you can learn from T&Cs! The T&Cs also include info on non-purchase entry for those in Northern Ireland.
Another current on-pack promo compers might like to try at the moment doesn't boast quite so large a grand prize, but will certainly be of interest to book lovers.
Head to the Galaxy website for all the details and T&Cs of this eBook-tastic comp which includes kindles as prizes.
Galaxy products are currently advertising the comp, but you don't need to buy one to enter. It's a text comp, so you have to text the word GALAXY to the number 88802 between the hours of 8am and 8pm before April 20th this year, to enter for the chance to get one of the Kindles that are being given away hourly.
There's also going to be a late entry draw for people who get texts in after this date and before the end of June 29th.
Galaxy also has another Kindle promotion on the go at the moment that compers might like, even though it's not a comp.
This one is purchase necessary, and again being promoted on various Galaxy chocolate products, with on-pack codes available to enter into the Galaxy website before June 29th. Each code gets a voucher for a free eBook from Amazon - with a selected range of titles available in the promotion.
There's a great range of books included in the deal, including Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn, who also penned Gone Girl.
