Christmas comps, like the Compers News' Facebook Advent Comp, are still up and running at the moment, but with the run-up to Christmas soon to come to a close, we thought it would be nice to take a look at some of the comps that you will be able to enter in the run-up to, and in some cases shortly after, the New Year celebrations.
This little lot could provide a perfect way to pass the time if you have a spare moment between December 25th and December 31st - though do note that some of them close before the 31st!
Over Christmas many of us are going to be turning into exciting TV events like the Christmas Day edition of Doctor Who, which will see Matt Smith, who has been playing the lead role since 2010's New Year's Day instalment, leave the series, to be replaced by a new Doctor, played by The Thick of It's Peter Capaldi.
If watching the festive TV line - which also includes films like Toy Story 3 and Tangled - makes you long for a new TV, why not enter some comps that might see you winning one?
People have been given up to January 13th next year to get their names in for a comp to win a Freeview HD TV, which is taking place on the Freeview website.
To enter, people must answer a question about the number of HD channels that can be seen on Freeview. The comp is marking six additional HD channels coming to the service.

Closing at the end of January 5th, the comp has a Doctor Who themed question - but it's one most people who be able to take a stab at, even if they don't watch the show!

December 27th sees the close of Royal Opera House comp that you can find on the Radio Times website.
The prize is a weekend break in the capital, with one night for two at hotel The Meliá White House. The winner also gets the chance to see a Royal Opera House Live Cinema screening. There are Cinema screening tickets for three runners-up, too. Entry is via a simple form, but people must register with the Radio Times website, first.
With what must be the latest possible entry cut-off time in 2013, a currentObserver Magazine comp advertised on the Guardian website, closes on December 31st 2013, at one minute to midnight!
The prize could come in very handy if you're planning travel in the New Year: it's luggage from Aspinal of London.
Another comp which closes at the end of December 31st is a Telegraph competition offering Aramis prizes to lucky readers.
The top prize is Aramis Gentleman and Aramis Classic, a pair of scents, and also includes body shampoo and a Telegraph Digital Pack subscription. The runners-up prize includes the two scents. Entry is via a simple entry form.
Finally, here's a comp with a slightly earlier closing date of December 30th at 23:55. The Tesco Living and Just Sardinia promotion includes the prize of a family break in Sardinia, an Italian island location.
Entry is via an online form and does not include a question. The prize is for a family of two adults and two youngsters who are 12 years old or under.
