Just like other social networks you might use, Twitter can be a great resource for a comper.
If you're not yet signed-up, you might want to try the service, as it is simple to use and makes tracking down competition opportunities a piece of cake.
Finding those comps
Once you're all set up on Twitter, you'll probably spend a lot of time reading Tweets from the accounts you have followed in your 'home' section.
Fun as this is, it's not the most efficient way to find comps on the service, as you'll be relying on luck.
A far better method is to use the search box - which can be found at the top of the screen in the desktop version of Twitter.
For example, putting the #competition hashtag in here will start to give you more of an idea of the comp action that's happening out there in the world of Tweets - although remember that not all the comps that come up might be ones you're able to enter.
Search tools - on the left of the screen on Twitter's desktop version - will help you narrow things down further. We think some great tools include the way you can switch between results from All People and just those you follow (click More options to reveal these tools).
Selecting to see #competition Tweets just from accounts you are already linked with will help you narrow things down to a selection you're really likely to be interested in.
The option to see Tweets 'Near you' might also be helpful in helping you track down relevant tweets that relate to comping chances.
Remember that you can use other search terms to try and find comps, too. And it's always worth double checking you're definitely dealing with an official Twitter account from a brand you trust before you enter comps.
When it comes to finding Twitter comps, we have to mention Compers News publisher Accolade's The Prize Finder website, too, which features a Twitter Comp section that groups lots of Twitter Comps together, meaning you can get to them super-easily.
What's out there on Twitter now?
Often, comps-related tweets on Twitter will include a link to the website of the brand using Twitter - and that's the case with this bunch of brilliant current Twitter-promoted chances...
For example, the account for Manchester's Arndale Shopping Centre - @manarndale - has been promoting its Advent comp on Twitter.
The comp promises 24 prizes will be available to win over 24 days in Advent. The December 17th prize, for example, was a beauty hamper. Registering is a simple matter of filling in your name, email address, postcode and mobile phone number.
Meanwhile, @RadioTimes has been promoting a Radio Times Travel comp with a Grand Hotel, Eastbourne stay as its prize.
With a closing date of December 20th, this requires compers to register with the Radio Times website before entering and features a TV-related quiz question about ITV show Lucan.
The entry form also asks you to name the British celeb you'd least want to go travelling with!
Magazines, as any Compers News reader will know, are a big source of comps, and often feature them in their pages. Following mags you like on Twitter is also a good way to come across chance to win.
Retail brands often also promote comps on Twitter. For example, MenKind has been alerting followers to a £1,000 prize bundle comp on the social site.
You can take part in this comp by heading to the MenKind website, filling out an entry form and following the brand on Twitter or liking it on Facebook.
The closing date for the comp is December 19th, and the prize is a set of gadgets and other gifts, including a camera lens mug and a Retro Slushie Maker!
It's also worth noting that brands will sometimes direct you to another social network - like Facebook or Pinterest - in their tweets about comps.
For example, on the @CompersNews account, we have been telling Twitter followers about the Christmas comp we're running on Facebook. This brilliant comp is still very much in full swing, and will be until December 24th this year - why not give it a go?
