    Gill Saunders won a lunch cooked for her family by celebrity chef Phil Vickery. Sponsored by Shloer, the prize included the hire of a private house in Bray for the day with Phil and his assistant cooking Gill's family a private lunch.

  • COOKING UP A STORM (Feb 2014 issue)

    As a huge fan of the great British Bake Off, it was a dream come true for Compers News member Janice Papworth when she got to meet her culinary heroes.

    “The task for this competition was to create a recipe that had to be baked and that included Elizabeth Shaw chocolate. You also had to submit a photo of the completed baked delight”, Janice told us.

    “I set about scouring my recipe books for inspiration and decided to make a chocolate roulade with a mint chocolate and double cream filling because I felt this fitted the adult nature of the chocolate and the sophistication of the Elizabeth Shaw brand. I had a very good feeling about the comp but was still thrilled to be the overall winner. The prize package was fantastic, but one of the best bits was meeting Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. Mary even commented on the year’s supply of chocolate which was also part of my prize!”

    “All in all this was an amazing money can’t buy prize and truly a dream come true for my friend and myself. I’m sure I will remember it all my life and it’s all thanks to Compers News.”
